Description
Known as petrified oak, this gnarly relic is one of several long dead trees found in ancient woodland at Mundon Essex UK. The oak forest was first mentioned in the Domesday book. Later, the oaks narrowly missed being cut down for use as masts when a fleet of ships was built to sail against the Spanish Armada.
