My aim was to create an image that was fresh, clean and natural, yet uncluttered and simply. I love the compositions negative space, which is not quite negative space! Plus the less-is-more approach and the high-key look have given it the contemporary feel I was seeking.

The image was captured on a beautiful summers day at the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew in London. Kew Gardens are a worthy heir to the title of the UK's favourite garden. It is also recognized as one of the finest horticultural and landscaped havens in the entire world and is listed as a World Heritage Site.

From a chance childhood encounter with sunlight sensitive paper, a couple of rubber bands and some old family negatives, my fascination with image creation was kindled. To help fan the flames, art, science and the natural world were subjects that excited me then - and still do today. I guess with that mix of ingredients, it’s not surprising that my future life and livelihood would revolve around the creation and capture of still and moving images. Fundamentally, I am an image fanatic. I love the buzz and challenge of bringing together the technical with the artistic – the tools with the imagination – the physical with the intangible.
